Did you have a favourite colour as a child?...

Life Is Ever-changing Colours.

Did you have a favourite colour as a child? I did, it was red. I don't seem to have one these days though. My choice of colour now rests on what I want to use colour for. And isn't it convenient that I can choose any colour now. Imagine if I was assigned red for the whole of my life because at one point I decided it was my favourite colour. Apart from the fact that I would only wear red clothes, drive a red car, and live in a red house fully furnished and decorated in red. The whole thing would feel very overpowering, red would eventually become my least favourite colour, and the chances of me becoming quite unhappy, staring at a rainbow of colours that I wasn't able to use, would be very high.

How Are You Choosing Your Colours?

Now imagine we've all chosen our favourite colours as children and we're now living, working and socialising with others. Everyone has picked their own colour too. As children the first influence will probably be our parents, then our friends, our work colleagues, our partners and we then may have children of our own and so on. Yet their choice of colour is different to ours. So we learn to use their colours. As we grow and make new relationships and enter new situations, we meet other colours and now learn that certain colours fit certain situations. We quickly get in to a cycle of learning the other colours and start limiting the use of our own favourite colour. And when we do get to use our colour, we then find over time, we've changed our minds and we now want a new colour. But the other colours remind us, no you are a red, you can't paint blue, that's not your colour. That's not how it is, you can't change the rules.

Your Canvas.

So what have you painted up to now on your life canvas? If you want to paint a masterpiece, you are going to need full freedom to choose any colour you like, anytime you want. Yet we don't do that. We are so conditioned by the rules that we limit ourselves most days of our life. We are influenced by others, we appease others, we self sacrifice for others, and we allow others to make our choices. We allow others to choose our colours.

Life Is Art.

A piece of art, a beautiful painting, a tapestry of colour, all colours, colours blended, merged, intermingling in a rainbow dance. There is balance and harmony in art. It's free flowing and graceful.

Become Your Own Artist.

To paint the best picture of your life is easier than you think. It just takes a little self love to start, then building on that. Learning to choose your own colours at any time, learning how to merge your colour with another without the harmony and balance between the two of you becoming one sided and oppressive. Setting healthy boundaries for yourself with others, and trusting yourself in the choices you make. Sharing colour without the need to control or impose on another. Learning how to listen to your own heart first and foremost, and feeling strong and confident within yourself. Learning how to let go of unhealthy needs and wants that you believe you can only find in another. Learning how to stop giving your power away to another. The greater you become at your art, the greater the canvas of your life. You have a very unique piece of art within you, and only you know what that looks like. Let go of the idea that anyone else is in control of your life apart from you, you will then paint a masterpiece.

With Love
